Explosion occurred due to gas line leakage in Mirkadim

The bomb disposal unit said the explosion at the Mirkadim municipal mayor's residence in Munshiganj took place due to gas line leakage. 

Sadar Police Station OC Abu Bakar Siddique confirmed the matter on Wednesday morning. 

He said the bomb disposal unit had been working at the spot overnight after the incident. Besides, CID, district police and fire service did not find any evidence of the bomb after examining the scene. 

The members of the bomb disposal unit said that the explosion was due to a gas line leakage. 

Earlier, the blast took place in Ramgopalpur area of ​​the municipality on Tuesday night. Thirteen people, including municipal mayor Abdus Salam, his wife and two panel mayors of the municipality were injured.

The injured are - Mirkadim municipal mayor Abdus Salam, his wife Kanan Begum, panel mayor Rahim Badsha, Aulad Hossain, Tajul Islam, Moinuddin, Mosharraf Hossain, Shyamal Das, Panna Miah, Kalu Miah, Idris Ali, Md Sohail, and Dwin Islam. 

Rahim Badshah was released from Munshiganj General Hospital. The remaining 12 have been sent to the burn unit of Dhaka Medical in critical condition.
