Cylinder gas is being sold freely in all types of shops including Hat-Bazar, disobeying government ban in Noakhali. Due to the recent cylinder blasts and fire, these gas cylinders are known as ‘Gas Bombs’ to the district people.

Cylinder gas is available in municipal market in Noakhali Sadar upazila, Maijdi Bazar, Godar mosque road, Dotterhat, North Sonapur, Sonapur minicipal market, Mannan Nagar, Char Karmulla Bazar, Hanif Chairman BAzar, Saheber hat, Islamganj, Vatirtek, Choumuhoni Bazar, North Wapda Bazar, Nuru Patoarir Hat, Kashem Bazar, Danamiyar Bazar, Choumuhoni Bazar of Begumganj, Ekhlashpur Bazar, Bangla Bazar, Ramjan Bibi Bazar, Sonaimuri Bazar, Amishapara Bazar, Chatkhil, Senbag Bazar, Kabirhat Bazar, Chaprashirhat, Abdullah Miarhat, Basurhat, Notun Bazar, Khaserkhat, Harich Chowdhury Bazar, Kanchan Bazar, Hatia Bazar.

These cylinders are being sold from tea shops to grocery stores, saloons, stationery, hardware, and even pavement without maintaining the rules and license. Most of these are expired. There was a danger of large accidents at any moment in public life.

By showing the administration a thumb, the traders are running the business in front of the shop, on the road. These dealers have no permission to sell gas cylinders. They are selling gas cylinders with a nominal trade license.

Noakhali Sadar UNO Ariful Islam Sarder said, “Those who do not know the rules, they are selling expired cylinders without a license, and will be taken action against them.”

Humayun Kabir, assistant director of Noakhali fire service and civil defense, said that some accidents have occurred in Noakhali recently due to a gas cylinder explosion. “If it is brought under the rules, the accident will be reduced.”
