Ex-hockey captain Ibrahim Saber passes away

Ibrahim Saber, a former captain of national hockey team, passed away here on Wednesday. He was 74.
Saber, also a national award-winning sports personality, breathed his last at his Dhanmondi residence in the afternoon, said a press release of Bangladesh Hockey Federation (BHF).
Meanwhile, BHF general secretary AKM Mominul Haque Sayeed and senior vice president Abdur Rashid Shikdar expressed deep shock at his death.
In a condolence message, they prayed for salvation of the departed soul and conveyed their sympathy to the bereaved family members.
BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir also expressed deep shock at Saber’s demise.
In a condolence message, he said Saber led the Bangladesh hockey team in the 1979 Asian Games. “The country has lost a talented player at his death. The void created at his demise will not easily be filled.”
Fakhrul prayed for eternal peace of Saber’s departed soul and conveyed his profound sympathy to the bereaved family members.
