A court in Dhaka today has rejected the remand petition of e-commerce company Evaly’s chief executive officer (CEO) Mohammad Russell and ordered a one-day interrogation at the jail gate in a lawsuit filed over fraud and embezzlement by a customer with the Dhanmondi police station.
Dhaka’s Additional Metropolitan Magistrate Md. Hasibul Haque’s court passed the order on Thursday.
On the day, Russell was produced in the court after the remand of a lawsuit filed with the Dhanmondi police station.
Later, Dhanmondi police sub-inspector (SI) Abul Kalam Azad, investigating officer of the case, appealed for a five-day remand including showing arrest in another case of Dhanmondi police station.
At that time, the lawyers for the accused appealed for bail, however, the state, on the other hand, opposed the bail. After the hearing, the court dismissed the bail petition and ordered a one-day interrogation at the jail gate.
Earlier, Evaly’s customer Abdur Rahman Rakib filed the case with the Dhanmondi police station.
Incidentally, RAB arrested Evaly MD, CEO Mohammad Russell and his wife, Evaly’s chairman Shamima Nasrin from their Mohammadpur resident in the capital on September 16.
