Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader commented that boycotting the upcoming upazila election, the Oikyafront took a forward step to the disaster.

Awami League General Secretary also the Minister said, “None of the election and constitution will remain steady for the BNP.”

The Minister told this while he was addressing to the press at Awami League’s Dhanmondi political office on Saturday morning.

Quoting the Prime Minister’s direction to the local MP’s regarding the upazila election not to violate the code of conduct in the electoral areas, Obaidul Quader said that, some mistakes should be overcome before the formal institutionalization of the election process.

BNP participate in the election seeking the favor opportunity, citing this the Minister said, “Earlier they (BNP) took part in the city corporation election, they won the four too. So what? It didn’t make danger.” BNP’ continuous election boycotting policy will fall the party in a worse crisis, Quader also commented. “Going away from the election is no a democratic way at all,” he added.

Awami League’s General Secretary said, “We have kept open all the counselor posts in the city corporation election. In the upazila election we took decision to provide political nomination for the vice-chairman posts. Later we make it free for competition.”

Meanwhile, the Awami League leader said that, although BNP is not in the election as a political party, the root level worker of this party are participating in the election. “Grassroots BNP didn’t hit to their decision,” he added.
