Eid al-Azha, the second largest religious festival of the Muslims, will be celebrated in Bangladesh on July 21 as the crescent moon of the month of Zilhaj was sighted in the sky of the country on Sunday.

The decision came from a meeting of the National Moon Sighting Committee after reviewing information about the sighting of Zilhaj moon.

The meeting was held at the office of Islamic Foundation at Baitul Mukarram at 7:15pm, with State minister for Religious Affairs Faridul Haque in the chair.

The crescent moon of the holy month of Zilhaj was sighted in Feni on Sunday evening.

Feni Deputy Commissioner (DC) office sources said the moon of the month of holly month of Jilhajj has been seen in the district.

Muslims celebrate the Eid-ul-Azha on the 10th of Zilhaj to commemorate the true spirit of sacrifice made by Prophet Ibrahim (as).
