Ministry of Education and Primary and Mass Education have reached an ethical decision to reopen educational institutions at a limited scale from next month. However, the exact date of opening educational institutions could not be known.

The decision was made at a meeting held online on Thursday afternoon. It has been informed that priority will be given to the classes which have examinations in the case of opening an educational institution.

Education Minister Dipu Moni, State Minister for Primary and Mass Education Zakir Hossain, Deputy Minister for Education Mahibul Hasan Chowdhury and three secretaries of the two ministries and directors general of various departments were present at the meeting.

It is said that a recovery plan will be made before reopening the educational institution. That is why the ministers and state ministers of the two ministries have instructed the concerned departments.

After the meeting, State Minister for Primary and Mass Education Zakir Hossain said the two ministries had taken an ethical decision to reopen educational institutions in February. The secretaries of the two ministries have been instructed to make a plan on how the educational institutions will be opened, which classes will be given priority. The report will be sent to the Prime Minister.

On March 16, the Ministry of Education issued a press release announcing the government's decision to close all educational institutions and coaching centers from March 18 to March 31, taking into consideration students' safety amid coronavirus pandemic. As a result, all the board exams of last year were canceled. Auto-pass have been declared for HSC, JSC, PEC and equivalent examinations.
