Batamara Government Primary School is situated in northeast of Borhanuddin upazilla of Bhola. Since the school is on the bank of the river, the education programs have to rely on tide. Classes have to finish before the tide comes. And the students get panicked after seeing a little cloud.

In Meghna erosion, many parts of the school grounds are dissolved. Besides, there is no playground for the students, the water has to be brought from far away, the roof collapsed due to the building being very old, only four teachers are there for 340 students. Five assistant teachers’ posts have been vacant for five years.

Many students of the school including class v student Fatima Begum, class iv student Noor Nahar said they have to come to school with shoes in hand in the rainy season. School is on vacation when the tide comes. We get so scared when see the cloud.

They also said that the east side of our school disappeared during the erosion of Meghna. There is no well education system here.

The headmaster of the school, Abdul Haque, said the school's educational activities are underway in various crises. Communication is not good because the school is located on the river bank. It mostly depends on the tide.

He also told the local MP about the issues. He (MP) assured that a new building would be built soon on barrage.

Upazila Engineer Gain Kumar said the school could not be renovated because it was outside the river bank and barrage. So the construction of the new barrage has been tender. With tender approval, work will begin soon.
