In the case of assessment – Professor Ziaul Haque, chairman of the Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education, on Thursday said that priority will be given from classes, Sangsad TV classes and online classes till March.
“However, if there is a situation like reopening school, the students will be passed into another class through face-to-face assessment. In this case, there is no such thing as auto-promotion or autopass. After evaluating the merit of each student, they will pass into another class,” he said.
He said in response to queries from reporters after a meeting of 11 education board chairmen in the conference room of the Dhaka Education Board in the capital.
“There will be no auto-promotion from eighth to ninth, there will be assessed. Besides, the decision regarding the fifth and sixth-grade will be announced from Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (DSHE),” he said.
About today’s meeting, Professor Ziaul Haque expressed displeasure over the news published in various media outlets that “the date of HSC examination will be announced”.
“It was our normal meeting,” he said, asking, “Who said we will announce the date of the exam at this meeting?”
We will not announce test dates here, he also said.
We are embarrassed by such news. At the same time students also fall into embarrassing situations, said Ziaul Haque, mentioning, “When we make a decision, we inform the media first.”
Addressing the journalists at the time, the board chairman said, “You should fulfill your responsibilities properly. We are embarrassed when we ask questions outside our jurisdiction. Announcing the test date is not our jurisdiction.”
