ECNEC okays 3 projects worth Tk 5,189cr

The Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) has approved three projects at a cost of Tk 5,189.69 crore. Of these — Tk 2,855.08 crore from government funding, Tk 63.85 crore from agency’s own funding, and Tk 2,270.76 crore from foreign aid. 

The approval was given at an ECNEC meeting held at the NEC conference room in the capital’s Sher-e-Bangla Nagar on Tuesday morning. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina presided over the meeting. 

Asadul Islam, senior secretary of the Planning Division, disclosed the information after the meeting, saying: “One of the three approved projects is new and two are revised.”  

The approved projects are - two projects of the Ministry of Road Transport and Bridges namely ‘Sonapur (Noakhali)-Sonagazi (Feni)-Jowarganj (Chattogram) Road Development (2nd Amendment)’ project and ‘CSCEC Road Link Project-2: Elenga-Hatikumrul-Rangpur Highway Upgradation to four lanes (1st Amendment)’ project and the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives project ‘Road Safety including Development of Traffic Infrastructure in Dhaka North City Corporation Area’.

Agriculture Minister Md. Abdur Razzaque, LGRD Minister Md. Tajul Islam, Industries Minister Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun, Health Minister Zahid Maleque, Environment, Forests and Climate Change Minister Md. Shahab Uddin, Land Minister Saifuzzaman Chowdhury took part in the meeting.

The meeting was attended by Cabinet Secretary, Chief Secretary to the Prime Minister, Chief Coordinator for SDG Affairs, members of the Planning Commission, secretaries in the concerned ministries and senior officials.
