E-passport in all districts from November 10

The e-passport (electronic passport) program will be launched in all districts of the country from November 10, the passport department said. At present, the service is available only at 47 districts.

This was informed at the 12th meeting of the Standing Committee on Home Affairs held at the Parliament House on Thursday.

Committee President Shamsul Haque Tuku presided over the meeting attended by Committee member and Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, Afsarul Amin, Md. Habibur Rahman, Shamsul Alam Dudu, Kujendra Lal Tripura, Pir Fazlur Rahman, Nur Mohammad and Sultan Mohammad Mansur Ahmed.

At the beginning of the meeting, condolences were expressed on the death of Attorney General Mahbubey Alam. The meeting recommended making dope tests/special health tests compulsory before admission in higher education institutions and before the final examination. Meanwhile, the administration was thanked for starting dope tests on police members. Besides, the meeting was informed that the process of formulating 'Dope Test Rules 2020' is underway.

The meeting also recommended taking appropriate measures against the so-called teen-gangs, including the continuation of the ongoing anti-drug campaign and the rise in juvenile delinquency in the country. It is also recommended to bring all the drivers of the country under dope test.

Senior secretary of the public security department of the home ministry, secretary of security services department, heads of agencies under the two departments, and other concerned officials and concerned officials of the parliamentary secretariat attended the meeting.
