Drug trader killed in Teknaf gunfight

A suspected drug trader was killed in a gunfight with members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) at Kharangkhali area of Teknaf Upazila in Cox's Bazar early Thursday. 

The deceased was identified as Billal Hossain, son of Abul Bashar of Abdullahpur of Lakshmipur. 

Lt. Colonel Asadud Jaman Chowdhury, captain of Teknaf-2 BGB, said that Billal was arrested before the gunfight. After gleaning information from him, a team of BGB conducted a drive at Kharangkhali area.

Sensing presence of the elite force members, Billal’s associates opened fire on them, forcing them to fire back, triggering the gunfight.

After the gunfight, RAB members recovered the bullet-hit body of Billal. A large number of Yaba tablets, 2 mobile phones, Tk 3370 were also recovered from the spot.
