Drug trader killed in Meherpur gunfight

A suspected drug trader was killed in a gunfight between two groups of drug traders at Harabhanga village near Eidgah Moydan in Gangni Upazila of Meherpur early Monday.

The deceased was identified as Budu Ali, 30, son of late Zurad Ali of Pirtola village. Police claimed that he was and accused in several drugs-related cases.

Ajay Das, In-Charge of Pirtol Police Outpost, said after hearing gunshots, a team of police went to the spot.

Police recovered Budu, wounded in the gunfight, while others managed to flee. Later, he was taken to Sadr Hospital where doctors declared him dead.

The law enforcers also recovered one kilogram of hemp, 20 bottle of phensedyl and a one-shooter gun from the spot.
