Drug trader killed in Kumarkhali gunfight

A drug trader was killed in a gunfight between two groups of drug traders at Adabariya area in Kumarkhali Upazila of Kushtia early Monday. 

The deceased was identified as Emdad Khunkar, son of Kota Khunkar of Ranjitpur village and an accused in multiple drug cases. 

A K M Mizanur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Kumarkhali Police Station, said acting on information that a gunfight took place between two groups near Chechua Beel of Adabariya area at around 3:30 am, a team of police conducted a drive there.

Sensing presence of the law enforcers, the drug traders opened fire them, forcing the police to fire back, triggering the gunfight.

After the gunfight, police recovered a bullet-injured Emdad and took him to Kushtia General Hospital where doctors declared him dead. 

The law enforcers recovered a foreign pistol, three round of bullets and 100 pieces of Yaba tablets.
