Domingo unhappy over Australia`s objection to Mushfiqur inclusion

National team cricketer Mushfiqur Rahim returned to the country midway from the tour of Zimbabwe due to family reasons. Cricket Australia (CA) has objected to his inclusion, alleging he did not enter the quarantine within the stipulated time. Bangladesh's head coach Russell Domingo expressed his displeasure over Aussie's behavior.
Mushfiqur Rahim had to leave Zimbabwe for home after both his parents contracted Covid-19. As a result, he couldn't be in the Dhaka bio-bubble in the stipulated time. He missed both ODI and T20I series over Zimbabwe to be side his ailing parents.
Meanwhile, to avoid the risk of corona infection, the CA made it a condition that everyone involved in the series should enter the bio-bubble safety zone at least 10 days before the Australian cricket team sets foot in Bangladesh.
Mushfiqur was ready to start quarantine 2-3 days after the scheduled time. At that time, even if he entered the bio-bubble safety zone, Mushfiqur could fulfill the condition of 10 days quarantine. But Australia's health protocol team did not allow Mushfiqur to enter into the bio-bubble. There was a mixed reaction in different quarters.
Domingo added that he was surprised with the way Cricket Australia handled the Mushfiqur Rahim issue. Cricket Australia and BCB had agreed on extensive pandemic protocols, including a 10-day quarantine. Rahim opted out of the Zimbabwe series to be with his parents, as a result of which he couldn't be part of the quarantine. BCB requested CA to reduce the quarantine period but the latter refused to concede.
"I can't understand the stringent rules Australia placed on Mushfiqur's bubble. I think 10 days would have surely been enough. It's very disappointing the way they went about it," said Domingo, adding that his absence will provide a big opportunity to the youngsters.
Like Mushfiqur, Liton Das is not with the team due to family reasons and quarantine complications.
"We will play against one of the best teams in the world," he said. This is a great opportunity for our young people to get to know themselves. The absence of Mushfiqur and Liton is a big loss for us. But there is always pressure in international cricket, you have to play with it.
