Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader on Friday said a national and international clique is engaged in creating confusion by spreading propaganda against the government.

“The propagandists are spreading rumors by twisting through social media. An unscrupulous is spreading imaginary and purposeful propaganda of information concealment against the government through various means including social media. We have to be careful against them,” he said in a video conference at his official residence at Sangsad Bhaban area in the capital.

Noting that the information about deaths in the country is being lied to, he said those who are dying in the country is being told later “they were died by coronavirus”.  In fact, test conducted after death shows some were positive and some were negative – which have both been found. Many are also lying about these deaths, he added.

Noting that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s example of honesty and efficiency in dealing with coronavirus is unprecedented in the post-75 history, the Brides Minister said the Prime Minister has already announced an incentive package of Tk 1 lakh crore. Besides, ration cards have been introduced among 1 crore people. The cash assistance program has been launched among 50 million people. “With Eid ahead, these initiatives will have a positive impact on the rural economy.”

Later, Obaidul Quader distributed coronavirus prevention materials to various government and non-government organizations organized by the party’s relief sub-committee at the Dhanmondi Awami League president’s political office.

Awami League Advisory Council member AKM Rahmatullah, Advisory Council member Begum Matia Chowdhury, Relief and Social Welfare Secretary Sujit Roy Nandi, Health Secretary Dr. Rokeya Sultana and Deputy Office Secretary Sayem Khan were present at that time.
