Education Minister Dr. Dipu Moni
There is no alternative to increase investment in the education system, said Education Minister Dr. Dipu Moni. She came up with the comment in a virtual program on Monday.
The minister said the more a country invests in education, the more it will be developed. So far we have been able to invest 3% of GDP in education and about 17 percent of the total budget. We will be able to invest more in this sector in the future.
“I think the investment in the education system should be the biggest,” she said. There is no alternative to increase investment in education. Bangabandhu said, "investing in education is the best investment." Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina also believes in this.
Mentioning that none of the demands made by the teachers at different times are unjustified, Dipu Moni said that they are artisans of building people. But if they live an inhuman life, it is sad for society and the state.
Claiming that no other government except the Awami League government has given much importance to education, the minister said that the expansion in education has taken place during the present government.
She further said that various school management committees are discussing the issue of unsolicited intervention. At present, the matter is in our Parliamentary Standing Committee, where a special sub-committee has been constituted to look into the matter.
The minister said the sub-committee was supposed to submit its report at the last meeting, but they asked for more time because of the coronavirus pandemic. It will be much easier to make a decision if we get their opinion.
