The work of Dinajpur-Gobindaganj 107-km regional road is 70 percent completed. In order to build a model road that is up-to-date with the aesthetic environment, the construction of dividers in the middle of the streets has already attracted the attention of the passengers.

Suniti Chakma, an executive engineer of the Dinajpur Roads and Highways Department, told reporters that construction of 107-km of Dinajpur-Gobindanj Regional Road was started in January last year. Out of 9 packages on this road, 8 are under construction in Dinajpur district and one is under construction under the supervision of Gaibandha Roads and Highways Department. “104 bridge cum culverts have been constructed on 107-km road,” he said.

Tk 900 crore has been allocated for road construction. Of this, an additional Tk 3 crore has been spent on removing electricity and telephone poles and removing illegal infrastructure, he also said. “A direction has been given for the construction of dividers to control the speed of vehicles at road intersections.”

“An expert team will give instructions regarding the vehicles speed at each intersection to control the speed of vehicles. If the driver disobeyed the instructions, he would be punished according to BRTA law,” said executive engineer Suniti Chakma.

The present government is working hard to provide an aesthetic road for the people of the area. The contractors are being urged to complete the construction of this road by the end of this year, he also said, assuring that the work will be completed on time if there is no crisis in the future.
