Dhaka’s train communication with the northern region of the country remained suspended as the engine of a commuter train derailed in Gazipur.
The incident took place around 10:45 am on Wednesday at the Outer Signal on the south side of Dhirasram Railway Station.
Md Shahjahan, station master of Joydebpur railway junction, said that the Dhaka-bound commuter train left Dhirashram station at around 10:15 am and three wheels of the train's engine derailed while crossing the outer signal area.
A relief train left Dhaka for Gazipur. Four trains have been stuck at different stations on both sides. If the derailed engine is lifted to the line, the train movement will be normal.
