The Election Commission (EC) has fixed February 1 as the date for the upcoming Dhaka North and South City Corporation elections due to Saraswati Puja, a religious festival of the Hindu community.

The CEC met at a two-point meeting on Saturday to decide the date of the vote. Earlier, the meeting began at 4 pm at the election building. Later, after the break of the Maghrib prayer, the commission sat in the second phase of the meeting at 8 pm.

Chief Election Commissioner KM Nurul Huda at around 8:30 pm informed the journalists about the change in the voting date.

He said that I have talked to the education minister about whether there will be a problem if the exam date is changed. They also changed the exam date to February 3.
