Readymade garment (RMG) workers on Monday took position on Dhaka-Mymensingh at Uttara's Azampura area in the capital for the third consecutive day calling for clearing of their dues and several other demands.

The workers of several garments factories took position and put barricades on both sides of the road at various points from Jashimuddin to Abdullahpur in Uttara around 9:30 am. Workers, a number of them, were seen carrying sticks and blocking the road on Jashimuddin Avenue in Uttara.

The barricades halted the vehicular movement on the road, which led to heavy traffic congestion on both sides of the road.

Officer-in-charge of Uttara Pashchim Police Station Ali Hossain Khan said that they are trying to convince the workers to free the road

Earlier on Saturday and Sunday, the agitated workers put barricades on the road calling for a raise in their wage as well as clearing of other dues.
