Dhaka-Kolkata Ship service starts March 29

The shipping service for Dhaka-Kolkata route will start later this month. A ship named MV Modhumoti will leave Bangladesh for Kolkata on March 29.
The information was released on Wednesday in a notification sent from Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC).

It is said that under Bangladesh-India Navy Protocol Agreement, Dhaka-Kolkata Passenger Service is being introduced on an experimental basis by BIWTC's own sophisticated vessels by government directives to facilitate the travel of tourists willing to visit Bangladesh-India.
It is further said that BIWTC's MV Modhumati ship will left for Kolkata's from Narayanganj's Pagla Mariander on March 29 through Barisal-Mongla-Sundarbans-Antyihar-Haldia route.

The list of passenger fares is also given in the notification. Dhaka-Kolkata cabin rental rates- Family suites (two Persons) Tk 15,000, first class (per passenger) TK 5,000, Deluxe class (two persons) Tk 10,000, Economy chair (passenger per ticket) TK 8,000 and deck Per person Tk 1500.

In context, last year, India and Bangladesh agreed to transport Dhaka-Kolkata passenger ships. At that time, Bangladesh Shipping Secretary Abdus Samad and Indian Ministry of Shipping Secretary Gopal Krishna signed the agreement.
