Details about 22 new fatalities

22 more people have died from the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) in the last 24 hours, raising the death toll from the pandemic to 544 in the country.
DGHS Additional Director General (administration) Prof Nasima Sultana came up with the disclosure joining the daily health bulletin of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) through online on Wednesday.
About the new fatalities, Prof Nasima said that 20 of them are male and two female. One of them was aged between 0 and 10, two between 21 and 30, two between 31 and 40, two between 41 and 50, seven between 51 and 60, seven between 61 and 70 and one other between 71 and 80. Of these 22 deceased, 10 died in the capital while 10 in Chattogram and two in Sylhet.
Meanwhile, 1541 more people have been diagnosed with the virus after testing a total of 8,015 samples in 48 coronavirus testing labs across the country including the Institute of Epidemiology Disease Control And Research (IEDCR) over the last 24 hours. With this, the total number of confirmed cases climbed to 38,292.
Besides, 346 new people have recovered from the novel coronavirus over the past 24 hours, raising the total number of recoveries in the country to 7925, the health official said.
The first coronavirus death was reported in the country on March 18, ten days after detection of the first COVID-19 cases.
The coronavirus, that first reported in China late last year, is now affecting 213 countries and territories around the world and two international conveyances. As of Wednesday afternoon, a total of 5,698,650 people have been diagnosed with the virus worldwide, as the death toll rises to 352,476 while 2,443,803 patients have recovered, according to worldometers data.
