The ferry services on the Paturia-Daulatdia route was suspended from 10:00 pm on Friday due to dense fog and resumed at around 5.30 am on Saturday. The other naval vessels including ferry services movement were completely normal at around 8:00 am.

A long traffic tail was created in the ghat area as the ferry suspended from the night, resulting in the immense suffering of thousands of passengers and workers. More than 2000 vehicles are still waiting for the crossing.

The ferry service on the Paturia-Daulatdia route had been disrupted since 8:00 pm on Friday due to fog. As the night progresses, the fog density increases, said BIWTC’s Paturia-Daulatdia Ghat AGM Zillur Rahman. “The ferry’s marking point and beacon light became blurred due to dense fog, as a result, the ferry services was shut down to avoid an accident.”

At the time, 6 ferries with 95 vehicles got stuck in the middle of the Padma, he informed.

AGM Zillur Rahman added that the ferry service resumed around 5:30 am when the fog density subsided. However, as the ferry service was suspended for a long time, about two 2000 vehicles were stuck at both the ghats.
