Dengue fever: 3 more die, cases cross 20,000 mark

Three more people died of dengue fever in the past 24 hours till 8:00 am today, bringing the total death toll to 76 since January 2021.

A total of, 211 patients were hospitalised with dengue during the same time, raising the total caseload to 20,129, said the Health Emergency Operation Centre and Control Room of the Directorate General of Health Services press release on Sunday.

Of the new dengue patients, Dahaka alone saw 164 people being admitted to hospitals in 24 hours. The rest 47 are from outside Dhaka. 

Though most of the patients who were hospitalised have so far been released, 967 are still undergoing treatment at hospitals in Dhaka, and 172 outside the capital, the DGHS data shows.

According to the release, 19,086 patients have recovered from the disease since January.
