Another 221 patients were hospitalised with dengue in the previous 24 hours till 8:00 am today,  according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS). 

Health Emergency Operations Center and Control Room of the Directorate of Health said this in a regular online bulletin on Saturday.

Of the new dengue patients, Dahaka alone saw 164 people being admitted to hospitals in 24 hours. The rest 57 are from outside Dhaka. 

With the new cases, a total of 6,759 people were diagnosed up until this month out of the total 17,115 infected.

Though most of the patients who were hospitalised have so far been released, 1,099 are still undergoing treatment at different hospitals in Dhaka, and 219 outside the capital, the DGHS data said.

At least, 7,698 dengue patients were hospitalised in August, 2,286 in July, 272 in June and 43 in May.

According to the DGHS, 59 people have died of dengue infection in the country this year, all whom died between July, August and September. Among the deaths 54 have died in Dhaka division, two in Chattogram division and Khulna and one in Rajshahi division.
