Defendant mobbed over threatening plaintiff

In Pabna, a murder case accused was beaten too severely while threatening the plaintiff, and died under treatment later.

The incident took place on Saturday at noon at Ataikula UP in Sadar upazila. The deceased Saddam Hussein was the son of Abdur Razzak.

Pabna SP (acting) Gautam Kumar Biswas said Saddam and his associates had hacked a man to death named Rezaul at Mougram two years ago. Saddam was charged with murder in the police station as the main accused. Saddam was out on bail recently following his arrest in the case. Since then, he has been threatening the plaintiff in various ways to withdraw the case.

The SP further said that Saddam threatened to withdraw the case attending at the Rezaul's uncle, Secedar Ali's house, on Saturday afternoon. At that time, the men of Secandar Ali grabbed him and beat him. The locals rushed him to Pabna General Hospital in critical condition. He died while undergoing treatment there.

Officer-in-Charge of Ataikula Police Station Nasirul Alam said the body was recovered and sent to Sadar Hospital morgue.
