Decision on HSC exam deferment next week

The upcoming Higher Secondary Certificate examination in Bangladesh that is supposed to be begun from 1st April, maybe postponed amid the coronavirus epidemic in the country; the decision on this issue may come in the next week.

Chairman of Inter-Education Board and Dhaka Education Board, Professor Md. Ziaul Haque said “No decision has been made so far on deferring the HSC exam. The situation is being monitored, the decision will be taken after one more week on the then situation whether the exam will be postponed.”

Earlier, Education Minister Dr. Dipu Moni said “No decision was taken on the HSC examination postponement. The overall situation will be monitored and a decision will be taken later. However, the seat-plan can be made considering one bench distance between students to keep them safe if the HSC exam is at the right time.”

Meanwhile, all educational institutions in the country have already been shut down till March 31 to prevent the transmission of coronavirus. Coaching centers have also been closed.

The HSC exam is expected to start on April 1. Thereafter, the practical tests will begin on May 5 and continue till May 13.

It is worth to be mentioned that the coronavirus epidemic has spread 175 countries and regions around the world including Bangladesh. So far 14 coronavirus cases have been identified in the country with one death in the lethal virus.
