A court on Wednesday has sent popular presenter, filmmaker Debashish Biswas to jail in a fraud case. He was later granted bail by the plaintiff’s lawyer on condition that “he will return the money”.
He promised to return the money mentioned in the complaint on Thursday, as a result, Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Mohammad Asaduzzaman Noor granted him bail.
Debashish re-appealed for bail after promising to return the money taken as per the agreement through lawyer Khandaker Muhibul Hasan Apple. The court granted him bail on that condition.
A man named Liton Sarkar Emon, owner of PNTV YouTube channel, bought four Bengali films — ‘Mayer Morjada’, ‘Shuvo Bibah’, ‘Opekkha’, ‘Ojante’ — produced by Gayatri Biswas, mother of Debashish Biswas, commercially on July 30, 2019, at Tk 140,000 for 60 years to promote on YouTube channel.
When he uploaded the movies on the YouTube channel, the YouTube channel authorities banned those videos.
He later found out that the accused Debashish Biswas had sold the four movies to two other people in 2017, so the YouTube channel authorities banned Liton Sarkar Emon’s channel after uploading those videos
