Death toll from Sejan juice factory fire soars 52, blaze still erupting

The fire at the Sejan Juice Factory in Rupganj, Narayanganj, went out of control. Although 24 hours have passed, the blaze still could not bring under control. So far, the death toll from the factory fire stood at 52.
Smoke was also seen blowing in the factory around 5:30 pm on Friday. Fire service personnel are working to bring the fire under complete control.
Earlier, a fire broke out on the ground floor of Hashem Foods and Beverage Company’s Sejan Juice Factory in Bhulta’s Karnagop area in Rupganj around 5:30 pm on Thursday. The fire immediately spread to other floors of the building.
The fire service recovered the burnt bodies of 49 people from the rubble of the building by 2.30 pm on Friday. The death toll has risen to 52, including three who died on Thursday.
Deputy Director (Operations and Maintenance) of the fire service Debashish Barman said from the spot that the fire was brought under control and it crosses to the 4th floor of the 7-storey building. 49 bodies were recovered from there.
“The blaze is still erupting on the top two floors of the building. For this, the dousing of fire was underway. The search for the missing under the rubble is not over yet,” he added.
