Daulatdia brothel gets namaz-e-janaza for third time

The namaz-e-janaza at Daulatadia brothel was held for the third time. This time, the janaza of Parvin Begum was completed and buried at the cemetery adjacent to the brothel on Saturday around 2:00 pm. 

According to locals, Parvin Begum suddenly fell ill at the brothel on Friday night. Later, she was taken to Goalanda Upazila Health Complex duty doctor declared her dead.

Abu Bakkar Siddiqui, the Imam of the Goalandaghat Police Station, offered the namaz-e-janaza for the second time. 

Md Sharif Uz Zaman, Additional Superintendent of Police (Sadar Circle), Md Ashiqur Rahman, OC of Goalandaghat Police Station, OC (investigation) Abdullah Al Tayabir, Daulatdia Union Parishad member Fakir and about 200 people attended the namaz-e-janaza.   

Earlier, when sex workers died in Daulatdia brothels in Rajbari, they are not allowed to get a proper burial due to social stigma, as a result, their bodies were floated in the Padma River.

When the sex workers presented the matter to Habibur Rahman, DIG of Daka range, Goalandaghat Police Station completed the namaz-e-janaza for Hamida Begum on February 6. Later, the police station completed the second janaza for Rina Begum on February 20 and third janaza on Saturday (February 22).
