Daulatdia-Paturia ferry service resumes after 12 hours

Ferry services on the key Paturia-Daulatdia route resumed 12 hours after suspension due to dense fog. Ferry services resumed around 10:00 am when the fog started to clear.

More than 700 different types of vehicles are stuck in the ghat area due to the long closure of the ferry service.

The BIWTC authorities stopped all types of shipping to avoid accidents due to dense fog in the Padma River around 10pm on Saturday. When the fog started to reduce ferry services become normal.

Passengers alleged that they had to suffer much due to the suspension of ferry service as they had to spend all night under the open sky. There is no lighting system and enough toilet facilities on the ferry ghat area which suffered them much.

Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) Daulatdia ferry manager Abu Abdullah Rony said BIWTC suspended the ferry services around 10:00pm yesterday due to dense fog to avert the accident. After the fog density decreased the ferry movement became normalize at 10 am.
