Dancer Shakil murder: Sabbir on 3-day remand

A Dhaka court today granted a three-day remand to Sabbir Hossain alias Bhuiyan Sabbir for killing dancer Shakil at Uttara East police station in the capital.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Shahinur Rahman's court passed the remand on Thursday.
The investigating officer of the case today produced accused Sabbir before the Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate's Court with 10 days remand prayer for proper investigation of the case. Following the application, the court granted him a three-day remand.
Earlier, Detective Uttara Division of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested Sabbir Hossain, the main accused in the murder of dancer Shakil, from Rajabazar area of Turag Police Station in the capital. According to the arrested person's statement, a switchgear knife used in the murder was recovered from Abdullahpur embankment area of Uttara East police station.
According to the case details, the victim Shakil left the house on May 9 at 3.45 pm to meet his friends. Later, around 9 pm, the victim's family came to know that somebody had stabbed Shakil in Sector 8 of Uttara East Police Station. Shakil was initially taken to Uttara Modern Medical College Hospital for treatment. As his condition was serious, the doctor on duty referred him to Dhaka Medical College Hospital on an emergency basis.
The victim was taken to the emergency department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital at 10:30 pm where the on-duty doctor declared him dead.
A murder case was filed at Uttara East Police Station on May 10 following Shakil's mother's allegations.
