Daily Covid-19 deaths, infections rise in country

21 more Covid-19 patients died in the last 24 hours, increasing the death toll from the pandemic to 5681 in the country. Besides, the tally of infections has surged to 3,90,206 as 1637 new cases were confirmed during the period.
Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) came up with the information in a press release issued on Monday.
Meanwhile, the recovery count rose to 3,05,599 after another 1627 patients were discharged from the hospitals during the period.
The first coronavirus death was reported in the country on March 18, ten days after the detection of the first COVID-19 cases.
The coronavirus, that first reported in China late last year, is now affecting 213 countries and territories around the world and two international conveyances. As of Monday afternoon, a total of 40,325,508 people has been diagnosed with the virus worldwide, as the death toll rises to 1,118,848 while 30,136,426 patients have recovered, according to worldometers data.
