Daily Covid-19 deaths, infections fall in country

As many as 18 more Covid-19 patients died in the last 24 hours, increasing the death toll from the pandemic to 5699 in the country. Besides, the tally of infections has surged to 3,91,586 as 1380 new cases were confirmed during the period.
Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) came up with the information in a press release issued on Tuesday.
According to the release, a total of 13,611 samples were tested at 109 authorized laboratories across the country during the time. Besides, the recovery count rose to 3,07,141 after another 1542 patients were discharged from the hospitals during the period.
The first coronavirus death was reported in the country on March 18, ten days after the detection of the first COVID-19 cases.
The coronavirus, that first reported in China late last year, is now affecting 213 countries and territories around the world and two international conveyances. As of Tuesday afternoon, a total of 40,680,326 people has been diagnosed with the virus worldwide, as the death toll rises to 1,123,469 while 30,372,750 patients have recovered, according to worldometers data.
