Daily Covid-19 deaths, cases rise in country

18 more Covid-19 patients died in the last 24 hours, increasing the death toll from the pandemic to 8,356 in the country. Besides, the tally of infections has surged to 5,44,116 as 399 new cases were confirmed in the last 24 hours.

Earlier on Monday, 366 Covid-19 patients were detected while seven deaths related to the disease were reported.   

Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) came up with the information in a press release on Tuesday (February 23, 2021). 

According to the release, the recovery count rose to 492,887 after another 828 patients were discharged from the hospitals during the period. 

The first coronavirus death was reported in the country on March 18, ten days after the detection of the first COVID-19 cases.  

Meanwhile, 286,178 people have been diagnosed with coronavirus around the world while 6,588 died from the pandemic in the last 24 hours. The United States has registered the highest number of deaths from the pandemic and infections during the period. 

The coronavirus, that first reported in China late last year, is now affecting 219 countries and territories around the world and two international conveyances. As of this afternoon, a total of 112,323,592 people has been diagnosed with the virus worldwide, as the death toll rises to 2,487,104 while 87,856,323 patients have recovered, according to Worldometers data.
