Daily COVID deaths fall while infections rise in country

As many as 20 people have died from Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, increasing the death toll from the pandemic to 7670 in the country. Earlier, 24 deaths from the disease were registered yesterday.
Besides, 991 new cases were reported during the time. With this, the tally of infections has surged to 5,17,920 in the country. On the other hand, 910 people were diagnosed with the virus yesterday.
Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) came up with the information in a press release issued on Tuesday (January 5, 2021).
The first coronavirus death was reported in the country on March 18, ten days after the detection of the first COVID-19 cases.
Meanwhile, 535,781 people have been diagnosed with coronavirus around the world while 9,130 died from the pandemic in the last 24 hours. The United States has registered the highest number of deaths from the pandemic and infections during the period.
The coronavirus, that first reported in China late last year, is now affecting 218 countries and territories around the world and two international conveyances. As of this afternoon, a total of 86,179,034 people has been diagnosed with the virus worldwide, as the death toll rises to 1,862,388 while 61,136,142 patients have recovered, according to Worldometers data.
