Daily COVID-19 deaths, infections rise in country

As many as 12 more COVID-19 patients died in the last 24 hours, increasing the death toll from the pandemic to 8149 in the country. Earlier, 10 deaths related to COVID-19 were reported yesterday.
Besides, the tally of infections has surged to 5,36,107 as 525 new cases were confirmed in the last 24 hours. Meanwhile, 443 COVID patients were detected yesterday.
Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) came up with the information in a press release on Tuesday (February 2, 2021).
According to the release, the recovery count rose to 480,728 after another 512 patients were discharged from the hospitals during the period.
The first coronavirus death was reported in the country on March 18, ten days after the detection of the first COVID-19 cases.
Meanwhile, 392,533 people have been diagnosed with coronavirus around the world while 9,260 died from the pandemic in the last 24 hours. The United States has registered the highest number of deaths from the pandemic and infections during the period.
The coronavirus, that first reported in China late last year, is now affecting 218 countries and territories around the world and two international conveyances. As of this afternoon, a total of 103,985,844 people has been diagnosed with the virus worldwide, as the death toll rises to 2,249,445 while 75,830,975 patients have recovered, according to Worldometers data.
