As many as 13 people have died from Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, increasing the death toll from the pandemic to 6140 in the country. Earlier on Wednesday, 19 deaths from the virus had been registered.
Besides, the tally of infections has surged to 427,198 as 1845 new cases were confirmed during the period. Meanwhile, 1733 people had been diagnosed with the disease yesterday.
Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) came up with the information in a press release issued on Thursday.
According to the release, a total of 17,112 samples were tested at 113 authorized laboratories across the country during the time. Besides, the recovery count rose to 344,868 after another 1737 patients were discharged from the hospitals during the period.
The first coronavirus death was reported in the country on March 18, ten days after the detection of the first COVID-19 cases.
The coronavirus, that first reported in China late last year, is now affecting 213 countries and territories around the world and two international conveyances.
As of this afternoon, a total of 52,516,595 people has been diagnosed with the virus worldwide, as the death toll rises to 1,290,976 while 36,725,824 patients have recovered, according to worldometers data.
