Police have recovered a hanging body of a former Dhaka University student from a mess at Chankharpul in the capital.

The body was recovered at noon on Monday (September 27) from 8th floor of the Sapna Building on Chankharpul Nazimuddin Road.

The deceased was identified as Masud Al Mahdi (Apu), a student of the 2011-12 session of the Mass Communication and Journalism Department of the university.

Apu was a resident student of Masterda Surja Sen Hall of the University.

Apu's friend Saeed, who is staying in the same building, said, "I went to Apu's room at 12 noon today to fetch scotch tape. Then the door was open. I see him lying down and using his mobile phone. I asked him why he was sleeping so long. In reply, he said, I did not sleep well last night. Then I went to my room."

He said that later at around 2 pm his roommate informed me what had happened to Apu. Then I saw his hanging body through the hole in the door. I informed the owner and manager of the house. Later we informed the police by calling 999. Later, they came to the spot and recovered the body.
