12 students have been permanently expelled from Dhaka University (DU) after the allegations of digital fraud and admission through illegal ways were proved.
The decision to expel was taken at a meeting of the syndicate held at the Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Building of the university on Sunday (February 28) on the recommendation of the disciplinary council. DU Vice-Chancellor (VC) Prof. Akhtaruzzaman presided over the meeting of the syndicate.
The information was confirmed in a press release signed by Mahmud Alam, director of the university’s public relations department.
Besides, 151 students have been suspended for different terms for adopting unfair means in the exams.
Earlier, a meeting of the University Disciplinary Council had recommended their suspension on February 11 (Thursday).
