DNCC launches free dengue test from Monday

Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) declares free test service for ‘viral disease dengue’ amid a worsening outbreak in the capital city. The service will be available in 52 health centers under DNCC from Monday next. People are also requested to call the control room at 01932665544, for their respective health center locations.

Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) said people can get free tests for the viral disease at 52 health centers from Monday.

On Friday, DNCC Mayor Md Atiqul Islam told these at a meeting with heads of schools, colleges and madrasas at Mirpur Girls Ideal School and College auditorium to raise awareness about dengue disease.

Mayor said, “Dengue testing kits will be provided to all health centers on Sunday.” To learn about the health centers’ location, one has to call the control room at 01932665544. The locations include five maternity centers (Matri Sadan), he also said.

Official figures show that 9,256 people had been infected with dengue Between January 1 and Thursday. Nine of them have died. Many hospitals outside the capital have also reported dengue cases.

Atiqul Islam said that each mosquito extermination worker will carry a tracking device from Sunday and come under strict monitoring to ensure that they are doing their jobs properly.

DNCC and DSCC on Thursday informed the High Court that they will launch a three-day crash program against mosquitoes to tackle the dengue menace.
