Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) today has finalized the policy for the coronavirus (Covid-19) vaccination.
The 137-page policy was finalized around 11:00 am on Tuesday.
Earlier on Monday, the Directorate General of Drug Administration (DGDA) approved the Oxford-AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccine for emergency use in Bangladesh. The institution’s director general Major General Md. Mahbubur Rahman gave Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) for use on an emergency basis.
Meanwhile, after the approval of the DGDA, there is no longer any bar to the use of the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine in Bangladesh manufactured by the Serum Institute.
Nazmul Hasan Papon, managing director of Beximco Pharma, said they would have to provide the vaccine within a month of getting approval for use in Bangladesh as per the agreement with Seram Institute.
“As per the agreement, Seram Institute will now have to provide 30 million doses of vaccine to Bangladesh step by step,” he said.
