The Metropolitan Detective Branch (DB) police will apply to the court for a 10-day remand for questioning Regent Hospital Limited Chairman Shahed Karim alias Md. Shahed in a fraud case. He will be produced before CMM court on Thursday morning, confirmed DB Joint Commissioner Mahbub Alam on Wednesday night.
He said Shahed would be taken to court at 10:00 am on Thursday. He needs to be questioned further in some cases. “Therefore, in the interest of proper investigation, 10-days remand will be sought in court,” he added.
Earlier on Wednesday evening, Shahed was taken to the DB office after a health checkup at the Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH). He will be kept there in the custody.
RAB’s mobile court raided the Uttara and Mirpur branches of the Regent Hospital on July 6. The court found the veracity of the allegations of cheating and embezzling from the general people by giving certificate for coronavirus without sample test.
Then on July 7, RAB sealed Regent Hospital and its head office on the instructions of DGHS. A case was filed against 17 people including Shahed with Uttara West Police Station. RAB arrested him from Satkhira border area on Wednesday while preparing to flee to India.
