Dr. Sabrina Chowdhury arrested over making fake reports of coronavirus test, is being interrogated at the Dhaka Metropolitan Intelligence Office on her 3-day remand in the case. Earlier on Monday night, the case was transferred from Tejgaon police station to Dhaka Metropolitan Detective Branch (DB) for investigation.
Tejgaon Police Station OC Salahuddin Mia confirmed the matter on Tuesday morning.
Dr. Sabrina Arif was produced before the Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate's Court on Monday and a report was submitted seeking a four-day remand by Tejjagaon Police Station OC (Operations) Hasnat Khandaker. Besides, lawyers on behalf of decedent also sought her bail. After the hearing, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Shahinur Rahman denied her bail application and granted her a three-day remand.
Meanwhile, the investigating officer of the case against JKG mentioned in the report, the accused in the case, Dr. Sabrina Arif is the chairman of JKG Health Care. She embezzled money through her organization by providing fake reports for coronavirus test through fraud using the name and logo of the government organization with the co-accused involved in the case.
The report further said, Dr. Sabrina, with the help of her associates, has been carrying out anti-social and destructive activities for the purpose of illegally profiting during the Coronavirus epidemic. Her organization JKG has collected samples of coronavirus patients from different parts of the country including the capital and issued thousands of fake certificates (negative/positive) without testing them. In addition, the organization has provided fake reports about coronavirus infection to Bangladeshi nationals ahead of traveling abroad from Bangladesh.
