Cyclone Bulbul: sea ports asked to hoist signal 7

Mongla and Payra ports have been asked to hoist danger signal number 7 as the cyclonic storm "Bulbul" centred about 500 km from Bangladesh coast. Besides, Chattogram port have been asked to show danger signal number 6 and Cox's Bazar to signal number 4 as before.

Meteorologist Aftab Uddin said it was centered about 620 km southwest of Chattogram port, 585 km southwest of Cox’s Bazar port, 495 km southwest of Mongla port and 495 km southwest of Payraport at 6pm.

At that time, the maximum speed of wind within 74 km of the center of cyclone was 120 km per hour to 140 km.

Earlier, in a special bulletin on Thursday night Meteorological Department said, "Bulbul" was centered 795 km south-southwest of Chattogram port, 735 km south-west of Cox's Bazar, 735 km south of Mongla port and 705 km south of Payraport.

The forecast said the cyclone could intensify further and move north to northwest.

Meteorologists believe the way the cyclone 'Bulbul' is moving could hit the Khulna and Barisal coast and West Bengal of India. But its speed or power may not be the same as Sidr. It could hit the Bangladesh coast by 9 November night or 10 November morning.
