Nandakuja River is next to Chandrapur Wabda Bazar of Nazirpur UP of Gurudaspur in Natore. Every day the people of 10 villages have to cross the river. But there is no bridge over the river. Locals rely on a culvert made by them. However, the condition of the culvert is getting worse day by day.

This river divides the Gurudaspur-Singra Upazila. As there is no bridge over the river people have to depend on the culvert. As the culvert is getting old, people from different professions including students have to cross the river at risk.

Bridge management committee manager Md Aktar Hossain said, “From my childhood, I heard about a bridge to be made over the river. But it is not being implemented. Our boys and girls have a lot of trouble going to school-college. Businessmen have to face the same problem of moving goods. It is not possible to take any patient to the hospital on time. So we locals made a culvert in our own money.”

Nazirpur UP Chairman Shawkat Rana Labu said that a bridge over the Nandakuja River is immediately needed. An application has been sent to the concerned authorities for the construction of the bridge.

Gurdaspur Upazila Engineer Wahiduzzaman said that necessary steps will be taken soon.
