Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) President Nazmul Hasan Papon said some that people are conspiring to destroy the image of Bangladesh cricket abroad and instigating the country’s top cricketers to stand against the board.

“I saw in the newspapers that the players had called for a strike. The demands are logical. They have also announced to refrain from all sports. But I still do not believe it,” the BCB President came up with the remark in an emergency press conference at the capital’s Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium on Tuesday.

Earlier, the board president and directors met at an emergency meeting regarding the declaration of national cricketers' 11-point demand and their strike.

The movement was unexpected. Because everyone knows that I have personal relations with each of the players, he said.

“We’ve seen what they (cricketers) demanded. We’re shocked because they never came to us with these demands before. Had they come to us we would have accepted all the demands,” Nazmul told the media.

We have given 15 cricketers a bonus of Tk 24 crores. Still, they will refrain from playing for money. I’m actually surprised, the BCB chief said. “Why I am surprised — it will take some time to explain. In fact, I have a very good personal relationship with cricketers.”

The BCB president said, “Although they talk about the development of cricket, I do not get anything from their strike. I think someone is conspiring from behind to make Bangladesh cricket destabilizing. It is important to find out who is working against the country.”

“We know who is doing this from outside. We will find out who is doing so within the team. Whoever is plotting from the inside will come out eventually,” Nazmul Hasan Papon added.

The camp for India tour is set to begin on October 25. But the camp is uncertain due to the sudden strike. Regarding the camp Nazmul Hasan said, “The camp is starting, if the players want to join, they can join. If they do not, then there will be nothing to do. Yes, we want to sit with them if they want.”
