Covid-19 restriction may be extended by a week

The government is going to extend the ongoing restrictions on travelling and outdoor activities for another week following the recommendation of the Directorate of Health. However, in some cases, the rules may be relaxed this time.

To this end, the government has convened an inter-ministerial meeting to review the Covid-19 situation. The online meeting will be held with Liberation War Affairs Minister AQM Mozammel Haque in the chair at 11am on Tuesday. At the end of this meeting, a new decision on restrictions on travelling and outdoor activities will be announced.

The meeting will be attended by 12 ministers and state ministers, 16 secretaries, principal staff officers of the armed forces, inspector general of police (IGP), director general of the Directorate of Health, and director of IEDCR.

A letter in this regard has been sent to the concerned from the cabinet department on Monday.

It may be mentioned that the government imposed strict restrictions from 6am on July 23 which will end at midnight on August 5. In the meantime, export-oriented industries have been opened since August 1. As the Corona situation has not improved, strict restrictions may be increased again for another seven days.
