Covid-19 fatalities, infections declined in a day in country

17 more Covid-19 patients died in the last 24 hours, increasing the death toll from the pandemic to 5477 in the country. Besides, the tally of infections has surged to 3,75,870 as 1278 new cases were confirmed during the period.
Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) came up with the information in a press release issued on Friday.
According to the release, a total of 11,256 samples were tested at 108 authorized laboratories across the country during the time. Besides, the recovery count rose to 2,89,912 after another 1596 patients were discharged from the hospitals during the period.
The first coronavirus death was reported in the country on March 18, ten days after the detection of the first COVID-19 cases.
The coronavirus, that first reported in China late last year, is now affecting 213 countries and territories around the world and two international conveyances. As of Friday afternoon, a total of 36,792,906 people has been diagnosed with the virus worldwide, as the death toll rises to 1,067,468 while 27,691,035 patients have recovered, according to worldometers data.
